Brie Three Ways

Halloween is over, and we all know what that means---the holiday season begins! All of us here at North Light Specialty Foods love all of the possibilities that the holidays bring---family and friends all gather to share good food and drinks. One of our classic favorites is fresh brie cheese! It’s a great addition to your holiday spread, and it goes well with a wide range of drinks and snacks. The shear variety and preparations of brie can be overwhelming, so we wanted to share three of our favorite delicious ways to serve up some brie.

One of the best ways to highlight the creamy, buttery flavor of brie is to pair it with a sweet honey or a fruit jam. Set out the brie on a board or platter, and drizzle jam, honey, or compote of your choice over the cheese. Serve it with some crusty bread or grain crackers, and it will be a delicious crowd pleaser.

Another impressive way to prepare brie is wrap it in puff pastry, drizzle it with nuts, cranberries, and honey, and bake it in the oven. The warm, melty cheese combined with the crunchy nuts and sweet honey will be irresistible.  You can check out the full recipe here.

We love brie and fruit. They’re the perfect pair. So our final favorite way to enjoy brie is with strawberries.  You can create individual servings by cutting the brie into small bit-sized wedges and then putting a small cut into the bottom of a strawberry, and placing the piece of brie into each slice. Use a toothpick to keep the whole thing together. It’s a simple assembly, and it is a sure-fire way to enjoy the brie and fruit combo.

Now these three options are only the beginning, so explore, and happy tastings!
